Inactivation in Adult Acute Myelogenous Leukemia
Downloa pose: This study was conducted to identify novel genes with importance to the biology of adult myelogenous leukemia (AML). erimental Design:We analyzed DNA from highly purified AML blasts and paired buccal cells from tients for recurrent genomic microdeletions using ultra-high density Affymetrix single nucleotide orphism 6.0 array–based genomic profiling. ults: Through fine mapping of m...
متن کاملDisseminated skin lesions in a patient with AIDS
Patients with advanced HIV-1 disease can present with a vast array of opportunistic infections. Not only is the spectrum of disease more diverse, but the spectrum of presentation can vary significantly from what is expected. In this case report we describe a patient with advanced HIV-1 disease presenting disseminated skin lesions and haematological abnormalities. Upon further investigation, a p...
متن کاملRecurrent self-limited fungemia caused by Yarrowia lipolytica in a patient with acute myelogenous leukemia.
Yarrowia lipolytica is a weakly pathogenic yeast that is rarely isolated from the blood. We observed transient recurrent catheter-related fungemia attributable to this organism in a leukemic patient. The fungemia and accompanying fever subsided spontaneously. The data suggest that it might be possible to withhold specific treatment for Y. lipolytica fungemia even in an immunocompromised patient.
متن کاملInvasive Aspergillosis with Disseminated Skin Involvement in a Patient with Acute Myeloid Leukemia: A Rare Case
Invasive pulmonary aspergillosis is most commonly seen in immunocompromised patients. Besides, skin lesions may also develop due to invasive aspergillosis in those patients. A 49-year-old male patient was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. The patient developed bullous and zosteriform lesions on the skin after the 21st day of hospitalization. The skin biopsy showed hyphae. Disseminated skin...
متن کاملTreating the elderly patient with acute myelogenous leukemia.
Decisions regarding the optimal treatment of acute myelogenous leukemia in the elderly patient requires the consideration of multiple factors. Population-based studies have demonstrated that, for all age groups, aggressive therapy results in improved survival and quality of life when compared with palliative care. The optimal induction and postremission regimen for older patients has yet to be ...
